Social events and activities

Fun things to do in your spare time

We organise a number of social events and activities. Information about upcoming events is circulated to members by email and via our magazine, but brief details for 2008 may be found below.

Oliver! - Wednesday 17th December

Theatre

Every so often we like to go to the theatre, and on the 17th December we'll be visiting the West End to see Cameron Mackintosh's staging of Lionel Bart's Oliver!. The venue will be the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and we've provisionally reserved ten seats for the 7.30 p.m. performance.

If you're interested in joining us, please contact Steve Wray (Razor) as soon as possible. Tickets are £37.50 each, which is a good price to see a top production with an excellent cast (including Rowan Atkinson as Fagin). Tickets are available on a 'first come, first served' basis.

Our summer schedule

Summer sky

Below are a few dates for your diary. Further details will be available nearer the time, but we suggest you make a note now of anything that interests you. Should you have any queries, or indeed any suggestions for future events, please contact Razor. It's your supporters' club, so don't be shy!

Annual General Meeting - Saturday 12th July

As usual, our AGM will be held at the Sekforde Arms, Clerkenwell, with a one o'clock kick-off. All members (and intending members) are very welcome to attend.

We'd hoped that Barry Kilby, or another Burnley FC official, would be able to join us, but the Club's recently-arranged visit to the United States unfortunately means that this won't now be possible. However, there's still lots to look forward to:

  • Peter Pike, our Honorary President and Chair of the Clarets Trust, will address the meeting.
  • Your chance to have your say about the supporters' club, or in fact about anything Burnley FC-related.
  • An opportunity to chat with Claret friends old and new.
  • You'll be able to renew your membership, and perhaps book on some early-season trips.
  • There will be an excellent buffet (and real ale available in the bar!).

We hope that it will be possible to meet up with Barry at some convenient point in the season, perhaps following an away game in London. If this happens, members will be informed of details via the magazine/email list.

Farnham, Surrey - Saturday 6th September

On the 6th September, we'll be off to the historic market town of Farnham. A popular destination for our previous summer trips, Farnham always provides lots to see and do, along with some excellent pubs.

Please note change of date. (Previously 26th July, but moved to avoid clashing with Burnley's pre-season visit to Accrington Stanley. The 6th September should see Burnley without a game, as it's an international weekend.)

Darts and quizzes

Our darts and quiz teams play regularly in Cup and League games against other London-based groups of football supporters. Both are always on the lookout for new players. If you're interested in playing, helping, or just coming along to support us, please contact Razor.
