Season 2009-2010

We offer cheap, organised group rail travel to most Burnley matches outside the south-east. This page gives details for upcoming trips*, plus important information and a summary of the booking procedure.

The travel service is only available to paid-up London Clarets. If you're not already a member, why not join us?

All trips are day trips unless otherwise stated. If a game isn't listed, it means there's no trip - this applies to most games in the south-east, and also to games where the kick-off time makes a day trip impossible.

Important notes for this season (2009-2010) - please read:

  • Because of copyright restrictions imposed by The Football League, we are no longer able to display full fixture information on this page. We are therefore only showing month, opposition and venue (home or away). To check dates and times, please therefore visit the Fixtures page on the Burnley FC official website.
  • We would like to draw your attention to the important information section. Please do take a little time to read through the information before making any bookings. It's boring, of course, but it's important that everyone understands the conditions that apply to our trips. Significant changes for this season (2009-2010) are highlighted in red.

Important information - updated August 2009

Please note the following information before making any booking:

  • Booking deadlines are normally a week or two before the game, but this will vary according to a number of factors. The specific deadline for each trip is shown above.
  • All information is correct at the time of writing, but subject to change in the event of things like fixture changes or engineering works.
  • All trips run subject to traveller numbers and rail ticket availability.
  • Concessionary rate (child or senior) tickets can usually be obtained - please ask me when you book.
  • For some away trips I will have to book tickets over the internet, as opposed to via Group Travel or on the day. In this situation, ticket prices tend to increase as the travel date approaches. To avoid the potential unfair subsidising of later bookers, prices will be calculated on an individual basis relative to booking date (rather than being an average across all travellers). This applies to relatively few trips, but those that might be affected are marked with an asterisk (*). For such trips you might therefore wish to consider booking earlier (but please read the next point).
  • For away trips I will usually need to purchase rail tickets well in advance, often before the official trip deadline. Such tickets are normally non-refundable, which means that you will be liable for the cost of your rail ticket even if you subsequently cancel from the trip before the official deadline. The only exception to this will be if someone else subsequently books and can take your place on the trip. Therefore before booking please be absolutely certain that you will be travelling. In particular, if your trip booking is dependent on your having a match ticket, you should confirm your match ticket first. For home trips, you can cancel without penalty as long as you do it before the official deadline.
  • No bookings can be accepted after the deadline given, but if you do make a late decision to travel to a particular game then it's worth phoning me to see if anyone has made a late cancellation. In this scenario you might be able to take the other person's place on the trip (you would still have to pay, of course!).
  • All members of the group will usually have to travel together outward and return. Additionally, for most trips we MUST travel on the specific trains on which we're booked - getting on the 'wrong' train can mean a hefty surcharge. Anyone who unilaterally decides to travel on the 'wrong' train does so at his or her own risk and will be responsible for paying any extra costs incurred.
  • I try to phone around the regular travellers to check their trip requirements, but please don't rely on this - obviously it's not feasible for me to phone every potential traveller about every trip. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are booked on the trips you want to go on - please don't wait to be 'invited'!
  • Travellers are asked to arrive for trips in good time (normally 20-30 minutes before departure of the first outward train). This allows time for rail tickets to be distributed and for any essential travel information to be passed on. Please allow plenty of time for any connecting journeys - and if you are running late, PLEASE phone me on my mobile (number as per the magazine) and let me know.

Booking procedure

For train times and prices, trip bookings or any general travel enquiries, please either email me or call me on one of the numbers listed in the magazine. If you are booking close to a deadline, please use phone rather than email (or I might not see your booking).

Payment will be collected on the trip. Cheques (made payable to BFCLSC) are preferred, else cash.

Match tickets

Why not let us arrange your match ticket, too? We offer members a ticket-booking facility for most away League games.
